Expanding our public safety service
The need for increased public safety visibility during the current Covid-19 pandemic is likely to continue for the foreseeable future, especially as more and more people are affected by ever increasing levels of unemployment, as well as housing and food insecurity.
The OBSID Board made the decision to expand the current Securitas contract size – adding Foot Patrollers and Response Officers across all shifts. An additional vehicle has also been deployed.
During July 2020, we welcomed Elvira Rhodes, Marcellino Cupido and Fikile Mayile as Response Officers, and Sibusiso Ngubethole, Xolile Mbangata and Siyabonga Ngcongco as Foot Patrollers.
We appeal to all Obs residents and visitors to take care of their safety, their property and their belongings. Since the beginning of April 2020, our team has had to alert drivers, residents and visitors of open gates / doors / security gates and garage doors, unlocked vehicles and visible items left in vehicles over 300 times at all hours of the day and night. Together we can do more to keep the neighbourhood safe!
