Working to make places for people

April 2022 was a busy month for the OBSID team.  Read on to see what we’ve been up to:

Public safety:

We recorded 59 incidents.  We’re concerned about the number of muggings onvolving people walking whilst talking on their cell phones.  Please be vigilant, aware of your surroundings and try not to use your phone in public.

Proactive actions remain high – taking our patrollers away from patrolling to attend to open gates, unlocked vehicles and visible valuables left in vehicles.

Urban management:

Another busy month!  Our Extended Public Works Programme team have been hard at work assisting our cleaning team by keeping the main routes in Observatory free from litter.  This team cleans Main Road, Lower Main Road, Station Road and Rochester Road throughout the day and collected 1049 bags of refuse this month.

Social development:

We continue to offer services and support to vulnerable members of the community.  We’re very proud to report that our entire work-based rehabilitation team of 9 people are now living away from the streets.  We aim to assist more people to access work opportunities and find a place to live before winter really kicks in.
