Buzzer is a free community safety app – working with you to keep Observatory safer.

The app connects Obs and makes the community safer by introducing simple, smart and social incident communication and response.

There are 2 ways to use the app:
*SOS – press and hold for 3 seconds – for use when you are feeling unsafe, are seeing a crime or are a victim of crime.
*Report – 8 different categories – making it easy for you to report issues related to lights, drains, water, emergency services or suspicious movements of people or vehicles.

Buzzer is free, download it at the Apple App Store and the Google Play store.

Meet the team: Amanda Kirk, OBSID CEO

“I have 29 years of corporate HR experience and HR and operations contracting to a variety of NPO’s. I’ve been with OBSID since April 2018.

The role of OBSID CEO is a challenging and rewarding one – needing good common sense, the ability to retain loads of information, to see the big picture and be risk aware but ready to implement new ideas. A good sense of humour is essential!

The OBSID team is strong and I have great support. We trust each other to do our jobs and do them well.

We always keep the focus on delivering our core programmes well but are also working on new projects and ideas. We’re very excited about the partnership with Khulisa Streetscapes on supportive housing and sheltered employment for people who previously lived on the streets and are also looking at developing the public spaces of Observatory – it’s all about making good places for people to enjoy as a community.”

If you are a victim of a crime, call the SAPS radio control on 10111 so the incident can be logged and the sector vehicle can respond OR Go to Woodstock SAPS to report the incident and open a case.
DON’T FORGET: Notify the OBSID 24/7 control room on 0214471066 so that the incident can be included in our analysis – to inform how we deploy our public safety team and vehicles.
