Maxibins are made of concrete with a fire-retardant fibreglass container. Dumping is illegal, and you will be liable to pay a fine if caught.
If you see a need for a new bin, encourage them to apply for one.

OBSID offers outreach, case management and support

OBSID offers outreach, case management and support, referral services and sheltered work opportunities to the community living in the public spaces of Observatory.
OBSID does not have law enforcement powers, so we rely on the City of Cape Town to assist; if you have a complaint regarding anti-social behaviour, we ask you to report this to Law Enforcement on 021 596 1999.

Meet the team: Robert Witbooi, Site Manager, OBSIDI was born in District 6, when I was 10 years old we moved to the Cape Flats, I graduated from Mount View Secondary School in Hanover Park.Upon leaving school I signed up for a short course in accounting, this was followed by a job in the shoe business. In 1992 my career in the security industry began.I’m no stranger to the City Improvement District sector; I’ve worked for both Bellville and Wynberg CID’s. I’ve been part of the OBSID team since June 2019.As Site Manager, it is my job to make sure the public feels safe. I find it rewarding when we successfully work through a challenge and find solutions.Public safety is extremely important. With over 20 years experience in the security environment, I believe I can contribute towards making Observatory a safer community to live, work and play in.We should do what we can to the best of our abilities. At the end of the day, it is important to reflect and say “I’ve accomplished something and achieved my goals for the day”.When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my family and watching sport. I’m a fan of cricket, mixed martial arts and wrestling. #OBSID #ObservatoryCapeTown #ILoveObs #KeepingObsSafe
